Photon: Image size

Hello,

I have a question regarding the image sizes when Photon is active.

I’ve noticed that this option changes the image width based on the $GLOBALS[‘content_width’].

While this is a great idea for the images located in the content area, it can cause some issues for the images that are located outside of the content area.

I am wondering if there is a solution to disable it for specific the image(s) on the page. Maybe a filter?

Here is a case:

The content width is set to 750px in the theme. The theme displays the full screen image outside of the content area (page header) using the following functions:

– wp_get_attachment_image()
– the_post_thumbnail()

Since the $GLOBALS[‘content_width’] is set to 750px, the image output looks like this:


<img width="750" height="500" src="...

This image is used as a full screen image (the screen is larger than 750px). As a result, the quality of the theme does not look very good. The original image size is 1300x866px.

Publicise to Facebook not working

Hi!

A few day’s ago, the publicise to Facebook option stopped working. I´ve tried reconnecting many times, but it always just says “Could not update the Publicize connections on the remote Jetpack site. No Publicize connection created.”

I tried to check the connection with Jetpacks tool, but everything seems to be ok. I tried deleting Jetpack and reinstalling, but always the same thing.

Anything I can do to fix this?

JetPack is causing issues on my website

Hello,
Been using JetPack on all of my websites years ago without any problems until yesterday when I noticed some pages on my websites are not running properly (For example: see link attached to this post). It seems that the problem is affecting all activities that require JSON. I start troubleshooting by deactivating Plugins one by one then it turned out Jetpack was causing this issue. I also noticed that I cannot change Jetpack settings as I keep getting “Error updating settings. Unexpected token < in JSON at position 0” message. I Viewed console page and I can see too many red errors with this message: “Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 503 (Service Unavailable)”. Deactivating JetPack always fix the problem but I need to use Jetpack so what can I do?
Please see attached link and noticed how the table inside the page go into endless loop. This shouldn’t happen.

carousel and pointer cursor over text problem

Hi I’ve just noticed that when I move the cursor over the text it turns into a pointer instead of a I-beam. It happens in every page whith a carousel gallery. I think the problem is

[data-carousel-extra] {
cursor: pointer; /* adds a cursor when the carousel takes effect */
}

in the jetpack-carousel.css file because when I open Chrome’s Inspect window and uncheck the cursor: pointer box the cursor works fine. Is there any solution?

“This site cannot be accessed”

I recently moved to my own hosted site and at first I sometimes saw this error, but since yesterday its been on all day and Jetpack is not working. Any idea?

“This site cannot be accessed”.

Can anybody help me resolve this?

Based on older threads I checked the xmlrpc.php and it looks fine:

What ever happened to the slideshow block?

Hi.

I had used the slideshow block (I think that’s what it was called?) that was available through Jetpack before but that block seems to have disappeared and any instances of that block just show a huge blank on my page.

What happened? Has such functionality been removed? I still see documents online referring to a slideshow block from Jetpack but the only Jetpack block I see available in the block editor is Pintrest and Star Rating. Seriously, what happened????

I’m using the latest version of WordPress and the Jetpack plugin.

Edit: Just to be more clear, the block I used displayed one image at a time and had arrows on the side that you can use to move between images. There were dots at the bottom that showed how many images there were and where you were in the set.

Edit 2: I generally use Firefox but after trying to edit via Chrome, I see more Jetpack blocks available. Huh????

Hi guys,

Up until a few weeks ago I was always asked to confirm whether or not to post -and share- my latest post.

Now it doesn’t happen anymore.
And of course I realized after I pressed “publish” instead of “save draft”.

Did you remove the confirmation as the default setting?
Is it possible to switch it back on?

I really loved it -and I think many others do-.

latest version of Jetpack brings down WPMU website

Hi Jetpack Support,

I found out the hard way that the latest version of Jetpack brings down WPMU installed websites. I’ve been forced to disable Jetpack (by changing the directory name) on my WPMU installation in order to keep the websites up and running. How can I get this issue remedied?

Urgent Help With Photon Image

I have to remove photos from my website. I have done so from my media section, but they are showing up still. After some research I see that its because of the jetpack photon plugin.

Is there a way for me remove the photo above on my end? Or do you have to do it. Im hoping there is a way I can do it on my end in case the issue arises again. But any help would be greatly appreciated.

Some photos broken after publishing post

Hey there. In the last week, I’ve noticed one problem with my website. When I publish a new post, one or two of the images do not work immediately. They’re broken links. When I wait 4-5 minutes, everything fixes itself.

I am starting believe that this might have something to do with the Jetpack Site Accelerator. I contacted my hosting company and they said everything was fine but they suggested that it might be my WP Theme. I changed that without any changes.

Here is my WP setup:

The image in question was: https://i0.wp.com/reelmockery.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/rose-cheat-finale-recap.png but it has done it multiple times with other pictures too.

Again, the problem fixes itself after a few minutes. Very strange. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Everything seems to work fine until I publish a new post. Then, 1 or 2 pictures are broken for 4-5 minutes and everything fixes itself.

all my web sites are down and can’t be accessed because of this…

i noticed the support announcement. maybe websites can’t be accessed for other reasons.
