Jetpack over-writing plugin search results?

$

Hi,

This support thread suggests that, when activated, JetPack will over-write the #1 search result for certain searches when a user searches for plugins in their WP dashboard. i.e. Doesn’t just add something into the results, but replaces it, so that the previous #1 becomes invisible. If so, that’s rather anti-social!

Is that what JetPack is doing? Or is there some other explanation?

Many thanks,
David

Jetpack Facebook widget not showing on mobile devices but is on desktop

Hello, Have seen this problem with other facebook plugins and now the Jetpack FB widget. It only shows a blank widget space on mobile devices. Sometimes it occasionally shows up “out of the blue”. I understand the widget merely loads the same code as the FB generator for developers, so does that mean no matter what widget/plugin we use there will be times when it simply doesn’t load?
Oh – and disabling plugins, updating plugins, and using health and troubleshooting didn’t help, unfortunately… no errors in themes or plugins were found. This is in fasting happening on all of my client’s sites using varying plugins etc. Any ideas on why this is happening and if we can fix it? Thanks so much.

Hi,

Im currently using Relevanssi plugin on my blog, but we have nearly 150 000 posts and counting and sometimes the search query is very slow because of it (8seconds). So Im looking for some other solutions and found out this jetpack search.
So my question is if this plugin will help solve our situation with slow queries 🙂

Jetpack blocks are not translated in version 7.1

I have just updated Jetpack plugin to version 7.1, in three different sites, with different themes, plugins and settings. I have also updated and uploaded .po and .mo Jetpack translation files, and even the new jetpack-es_ES-1bac79e646a8bf4081a5011ab72d5807.json file, which I have uploaded to /wp-content/plugins/jetpack/languages/json folder.

After the update, all Jetpack strings in WordPress admin interface are translated, except Jetpack blocks, which remain in English. I can’t understand why, as the updated translation files (.mo and .json) include most of the strings related to Jetpack blocks.

I’ve noticed the same behaviour in some other plugins which add blocks to new WordPress editor: even after updating and uploading the translation files, blocks are not translated. Here it is a ticket I recently opened about this issue in Block Gallery plugin: https://wordpress.org/support/topic/some-questions-about-block-gallery-translation/.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,
Please bear with me as I’m new to running a website. My WordPress site says it cannot be accessed after updating Jetpack. So I ran the debug and got the xml-rpc not responding correctly (500). I’m not sure what I need to do now to fix this.

Thanks
Matt

How to manage “custom post type” posts?

can’t access my hosted WP site since Jetpack activation

Hosted WP site using DIVI page builder. I researched potential conflict with Jetpack before installing Jetpack. The email I used for the hosted WP site is different from one I’ve used for .com WP sites. To initialize Jetpack after install, it asked for a WordPress.com account. Because it didn’t recognize the email I used for the hosted site, I used my existing .com profile to open up the capabilities. So far so go. Then I logged out of my hosted site and now I can’t get back in. Attempting to use wp-admin, just hangs until it times out or delivers a 500 error. Logging in to my .com, I can see some of the admin controls of the my hosted wp site, but clicking wp-admin doesn’t get me any farther. Just disconnected access from the .com site to the hosted site, but sites and admin panel still inaccessible . Help!!! (please)

I’m using Jetpack in my site and turned on the feature to let users like my pages and posts. However, the like button isn’t appearing. Jetpack is updated to 7.1 and I tried deactivating all other plugins and switching the theme to Twenty-Nineteen. Still won’t appear. Any help would be appreciated.

Hello,

I’ve a strange problem from performance tests on GTMetrix. The site’s homepage suffers from oversized images resized in html/css. Strange because, I don’t see this particular error when testing other pages / posts on the site, but only on home. Here’s a report for your reference.

Would appreciate any guidance to understand / resolve this.

Kind regards,

Jetpack Publicize sharing prior to post Publishing

We have Jetpack connected to our site and Publicize is set with LinkedIn and Twitter, tumblr and facebook page.

When we schedule a post to publish (typically 2.5 hours later), and hit the ‘Schedule’ button in the wordpress Post page

Publicize/Jetpack shares that post (currently unpublished) to each of the social media sites with a url that then generates a 404 error as the post is not yet published (2.5 hours premature).

How do we troubleshoot/solve this problem? Not sure where to begin/where to look.

The server times in our site (hosted on wpengine) is utc-7 and that matches the clock in the jetpack wordpress.com settings.

Question about Jetpack Tiled Gallery block

$

Hello.

If I create a gallery with five images using the Jetpack Tiled gallery block set to the Tiled Mosaic style, the images are displayed with two on the first row and three on the second row.

If, instead, I use the Classic block and add a tiled gallery, set to Tiled Mosaic as the gallery type, the images are displayed as two on the first row, two on the second row, and a large image on the last row. This method uses the [ gallery ] shortcode Jetpack provided prior to the rollout of the block editor.

It’s just a personal preference, of course, but I like the second layout better; and was thinking that the new Jetpack Tiled Gallery block set to Tiled Mosaic style would look the same as the classic-block Tiled Mosaic gallery.

So … why does the Jetpack Tiled Gallery block display the images as two on one row, and three on another; rather than two-two-and-one? Is this a bug, or is it just the way the new block works?

I created a temporary page to show the difference, link below, using the same five images in both examples (and they are all the same size). The first gallery on the page uses the Jetpack Tiled Gallery block, the second uses the Classic block with a tiled mosaic gallery.

Thanks for your help!

Deleted images coming up on Google

Hello,

I have two images I need to have removed and it appears that I cannot contact Jetpack directly because I’m using the free version. I have deleted the images in question from our site but need the cached images purged as well. A former client asked that we take their stuff off our site and since these images are still showing in a Google search she thinks we are still using them.

I have used Jetpack for a while now and updated to 5.1 and updated all my plugins all been working fine on both my wordpress sites. I went to update Jetpack today to Version 7.1.1 and failed I removed the old one and tried to install again but fails?

If I browse to my wp-content/plugins it shows the folder and I get the option to activate the plugin but does not work. This happens for both sites with the same error.

Plugin could not be activated because it triggered a fatal error.

Jackpck publicize not able to connect to Faceook page

I’m having a problem with Publicize. Up until about a week or two ago my posts were being sent to Facebook correctly. Now the posts have stopped being sent to Facebook, and I can’t tell why.

Some background..

  1. I am trying to connect to a page (I know that profiles aren’t supported).
  2. The last post that was successfully publicized was on the 22nd of February 2019.
  3. No changes where made to the site or the connection.

I have tried to disconnect Facebook through JetPack (by going to the WordPress.com site) but after disconnecting I can’t see that page any longer. It onyl gives me the option of one page out of the four that I have, and it’s the wrong one.

Does anyone have any idea of what could be worng with this, and what I can try to get the connection back?
