BuddyPress Compatibility

Hello folks at Automattic,

So the Jetpack Lazy Loading for Image is killing the BuddyPress image cropping. All you can see is just a dot if you have it on, turn it off the cropping works like magic. Perhaps the lazy load thinks that the user is not in the viewport and hide the image with something size of one tiny dot.

This has been around for a year when I first found out, I thought you will have it fixed by now. But maybe it’s because nobody has reported this so I’m just letting you know that this problem exists.

Well, continue the great work Jetpack is still a great security plugin. Looking forward to Jetpack buddying with BuddyPress 😛

Best wishes,
Anthony Kung

Merging Stats after updating my theme

I recently updated my theme and did a wholesale restart for my site. Same Url as the original site, transferred everything over. Unfortunately, my stats from the previous years on my original site dont show up once I relaunched my new site. They are still there when I go to the old link: http://kamikazeoverdrive.net/cms

Is it possible to merge the stats together?

Thanks in advance.

Display WordPress Posts

I have been using Jetpack to feed posts from here: https://www.goodnewsnetwork.org
specifically https://www.goodnewsnetwork.org/category/news/

My sites feed page is: https://www.unifiedcaring.org/daily-news/

I have Jetpack on both sites logged into my WordPress.org account but I keep getting the error:

An error occurred while downloading blog information:
An error occurred fetching the remote data.

Detailed information:
Not Found

I’ve looked through other posts on here and found that you need to have JSON API enabled. It is on both sites. I’ve gone and disabled and re-enabled it on both sites. I also went and removed all transients. Is there any way to get this working again? I’m not sure when it started failing.

It’s a great plugin. But I have a question about background images.
I use Jetpack for service all my images from their servers. All of them looks like

https://i0.wp.com/my-domain.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/img_5477-1.jpg

But only background images still on my server

<div class="header-filter" style="background-image: url(https://my-domain.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/img_5477-1.jpg);">

Can you fix it please?

How to Place Related/Latest Blog Posts in Front Page

I am using a static front page, but I will like to place a widget at the top of my homepage footer (that is the last item in my home page) that will display RELATED CONTENT or LATEST BLOG POSTS.

I ideally want it to display the way it displays at the end of blog posts – with a heading and also Show a thumbnail image where available.

Is there a shortcode I can use to do this?

Single pages loading twice

Hi. I’m having an issue where I have to press the back key twice to return to the previous page any time I view a single post or page on my site. When I view the browsing history, it shows that the page loaded twice.

This doesn’t happen on the home page, the shop page, or any product pages. Only posts and pages.

I used the healthcheck plugin to narrow this behavior down to Jetpack. I also noticed a brief flash at the bottom of the screen that appears to indicate something at api.wordpress… is loading, but it goes by too quickly to get a full URL.

This behavior began on September 24th or 25th of last year. I checked the Jetpack release logs, and nothing was released that day. I also checked my own functions.php, and I don’t see anything that I have changed in that time period that could be related.

Any suggestions how to fix this? It’s messing up my analytics by giving everyone double the page views, and making my bounce rate downright unbelievable.

Thanks!

Hello I’ve got problems with these CDN from Jetpack.
I´m using Jetpack since a long time. If I turn the Site Accelerator on, then it doesn’t display my images. If I wanna see the images with the image-address in browser only like https://i1.wp.com/www.boombatzeentertainment.de/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/evfu7inch.jpg?w=636&h=477&ssl=1 the I got this message „We cannot complete this request, remote data could not be fetched“

I even used Jetpack 6.9 -> same problem
deactivated all other plugins (with clearing browser & site-caches) -> same problem

Is there a problem with these https://i1.wp.com/ Server?

What is the problem? I even got this same problem with a different site 🙁

I have 2 subsites in a wordpress multisite install that have the exact same theme and the exacst same plugins.

When I activate jetpack on one of the sites I get the error below

Call to undefined function jetpack_register_block() in /home/repam/public_html/wp-content/plugins/jetpack/modules/shortcodes/email-subscribe.php on line 72

The other site I get no errors at all.
I would like to activate the Jetpack network wide but cannot due to this error.

I tried switching themes on the site with the problem and that did not fix the error.

Map Widget Block

I have used Jetpack’s new Map block widget on another site with success. I have a valid Mapbox API token and all works fine on that site. On a different site I recently installed and connected Jetpack specifically for this block widget. I added the block to a post and the API key is rejected with an error that reads… “Invalid API Key”.

I tried disabling the firewall plugin and still no luck. I have created a second API key with Mapbox and that also fails. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Jetpack and still it won’t work.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Issues with Jetpack generated open graph image tags

Had something strange happen this AM. I posted a new post – the most recent one on the home page and noticed that while the featured image showed up on the main blog page – it does not show up in any snippet previews (if I post the link to tiwtter for instance). Instead I get a white square. So I dug in a little bit and see in he opengraph headers that the image being sent is in fact a white sqaure

<meta property=”og:image” content=”https://s0.wp.com/i/blank.jpg” />

So then I looked at some other recent pages and noticed similar behavior. The URL I mentioned above has a featured image set (and shown on the home page) but the opengraph image tag is for an older picture (one I had set before and then changed).

Any ideas? I disabled all of the plugins that could cahce and even tried disabling and re-enabling jetpack.

Shows my IP as 127.0.0.1

I’m on Cloudways with Varnish enabled. Jetpack shows my IP address as 127.0.0.1. It also shows 127.0.0.1 for other users who are trying to log in to my website. I’m under brute force attack. I can mitigate it easily if I could know the IP address range of the attacker. I’m using Cloudflare only for DNS (not for caching) and firewall.
While WP shows correct IP for the comments.
How can I resolve this issue?

Cannot authorise Google Docs, JSON API option not showing

I followed instructions at: https://themeisle.com/blog/import-from-google-docs-to-wordpress/

I didn’t have the JSON module activated, got errors, then activated it and tried to authorise my self-hosted wordpress site. The options to turn on JSON in settings (not module) is not showing.
Now I get:

From google doc, authorise, can login, browser hangs, no error, returns to google doc.
Running the GDOC add-on starts authorisation again.

load_textdomain error

Hi,

my localisation plugin “Codestyling Localization” told me, that Jetpack uses load_textdomain instead of the load_plugin_textdomain function. This can change the behavior of WordPress because some filters and actions are no longer executed. And i should contact the author about this.

Ok you’re now informed. 🙂 Whats’s next?

500 status code when trying to connect to social media profiles

Hello,

I get this error when trying to enable Sharing option and connect to my Facebook and Twitter profiles:

500 status code for “POST /sites/123066461/publicize-connections/new”

I have tried to disconnect and re-connect Jetpack and WordPress account, but the problem persists.

This blog is part of a network and I have no fully access to all options (i. e. I cannot install or unninstall plugins). I don’t know if this is a problem to solve this error.

Thank you.
