Jetpack Dashboard Widget No Longer Links to In-dash Statistics Panel

Using the latest version of Jetpack on multiple Websites, it seems that Jetpack has dropped the link from the main admin dashboard widget that takes you to this page:

…/wp-admin/admin.php?page=stats

The only link on the widget is now “View All Stats”, which takes you off-site to the WordPress.Com stats report, which we rarely look at. We’re only interested in getting to the on-site reports as quickly as possible.

This is a major annoyance considering we manage over 100+ installations. We don’t want to be logging into and out of WordPress.Com accounts all the time.

Either it’s a bug or someone thought it was a good idea to make it harder to get to the on-site stats report. It’s not a good idea. We’d like to see the link restored. Is this a bug that should be reported?

Quick stats at top of page broken

This past weekend, I changed my theme from rock star theme to frontier theme and the site stats mini bar at the top of the admin bar started having a broken image. I can still click on it and go to the stats page. I uninstalled jetback completely a few times with reinstall. I also installed it through the jetpack website and through wordpress. None of that helped. I disabled all my plugins except for jetpack and also checked the old theme and now its not even working on the old theme. What have I done to cause this problem? I know the only thing I changed was the theme. However, I have two other websites I manage that use the exact same theme and they are working properly and not showing the broken image on the last 48 hours mini stat bar.

When I inspect the elements of the broken link, it shows:

In wp_options table I have 250 entries with the option name post_by_email_address##### all with the value of NULL and set to autoload.

Are these needed?

Tiled gallery images not displayed by some browsers

Hello. This morning I created a post using the block editor and added a Jetpack Tiled Gallery (set to Square Tiles, 1 column) with four images. There was no other content in the post, just the tiled gallery. I added some categories and tags, previewed the post and it looked fine, and I published it. I used Safari to create and publish the post.

After publishing, the post looked as expected in Safari; but none of the four images displayed in Chrome, Firefox, or Brave browsers. Chrome Console didn’t show any errors, but I cleared browser history for all three browsers, and tried again: still no images. Since it was a live post, I deleted the tiled gallery and recreated it using a Tiled Gallery inside a Classic block, with the same images, same style and settings, and republished the post. All four browsers then showed the images.

I am at Jetpack 6.9, WordPress 5.03, and have “Speed up image load times” and “Speed up static file load times” both set on, as well as “Enable Lazy Loading for images”.

If this happens again, is there something i should look for, or some other information I should gather, to isolate the cause? Does it mean anything that the browser I used to create and publish the post worked fine, but the other three didn’t?

Inaccurate stats since latest update

Hi

We have had Jetpack running on our website for over 11 months and have had no major issues with it.

However, after the latest update, our daily site stats seem inaccurate.

We have Google Analytics also running sitewide, and usually the no. of page views and visitors are very similar or not far off. However, since updating to the latest version of Jetpack, our site stats have been very different to Google Analytics.

For instance, Jetpack stats say we had 12,000 visitors and 26,000 page views yesterday.

Our Google Analytics says we also had 12,000 visitors, but counted just 17,000 page views (difference of 9,000 from Jetpack).

Similarly, it says we have had 34,000 page views today, but Analytics says it is in fact 26,000 views.

We know it isn’t a problem with Google, since this issue has only come about ever since the latest Jetpack update.

Our stats are usually very similar between the two (+/- 1000), however this discrepancy means it is unreliable for us to now refer to Jetpack’s stats.

Is there anyone who can look into this?

(Again) Excerpt Not Posting to LinkedIn

This is a repost of my previous issue, because the support response marked it as resolved, I replied to it, and no further comments were made by support.

Essentially:
– Publicize posts an excerpt of a page link to Facebook as the post content, as well as the link itself
– Publicize does *not* do this for LinkedIn.
– That means that LinkedIn posts look threadbare, versus Facebook posts.
– This has nothing to do with OpenGraph – I’m talking about how Publicize actually grabs x number of words from a post, uses them to compose a post in Facebook as the description that goes along with a link. I simply want the same to happen on LinkedIn.

The behaviour of Publicize on LinkedIn and Facebook *should* be very similar as they are very similar platforms. But Publicize’s LinkedIn functionality is cut-down and this simply makes it nowhere near as useful as posts will have far less engagement without an excerpt of the post text being used in the post body.

Mon admin est bloqué par Jetpack : Jetpack Protect a bloqué la page de connexion de votre site.

Et bien entendu impossible de retourner sur l’admin malgré le mail envoyé je recoit une page d’erreur “Bad request” etc…

can’t connect social sharing on jetpack to my site

Hello i installed Jetpack to my site
and when i want to connect facebook, twitter etc…
it give me this message
500 status code for “POST /sites/157155454/publicize-connections/new”
Can someone help me out please
i tried several times but it give the same message
it also give a red sign (in wordpress in the “my sites” row) telling me
that it can’t access the site
What should i do please
(i saw a post about it giving an operation to do
from the command line, but i don’t know where is the command line)

Hi,

I have a testimonial slider on my home page; a scan on GTMetrix has flagged that the images are not adequately sized and offer an oportunity to improve page load speed.

When I view the report I am presented with the following link which I understand is because the images are hosted with Jetpack / Gravatar. I found this odd as these are static stock images that I loaded and not of any persons that have visited the site?

I need to update the images with resized versions but as they are not on my server simply changing the image in the post has no effect. How do I update the images that are being served from the i2.wp.com URL?

I’m having trouble getting rid of Jetpack managing pixels, it’s ruining the speed and thus rank of the site

I’m pretty sure the pixel.wp.com is jetpack but i’m not 100% – that’s why I’m posting the question here – but it can’t be an external plugin.

REST API endpoints used by Publicize (Facebook and Twitter)

Hi team WP, just a query on what WP REST API endpoints are required for the Publicize module within Jetpack to operate? I am posting to a Twitter Profile and Facebook Page.

I am using the Disable REST API Plugin (https://wordpress.org/plugins/disable-json-api/) and would like to open the endpoints required for the Publicize module 🙂

Removed Jetpack yet Bubble still shows

I removed Jetpack from my site yet I still get the Advertising notice that says
“Connect Jetpack to activate WooCommerce Services” etc etc. on the plugins page

Surely if I Remove a plugin then all files should be removed and no Banner Style Advert should be left

How do I remove ALL of jetpack from my site as well as this Advert

Twitter Publicize not working

My site stopped auto-sharing articles on Twitter as of a few days ago. I’ve deleted cookies and logged back in twice to re-connect to Twitter to no avail. I’m going out of town this week and need it working again ASAP

Hi, I am locked out from my website by Jetpack. The link sent via email does nothing. It gives an error like “{“error”:”Bad Request”,”message”:”Invalid input.”}”. Kindly help. If possible please disable the function or let me know how this could be stopped permanently. Thanks for your help in advance. BR

Definition Lists not working in Markdown Gutenberg block

Running WordPress 5.0.3 w/Jetpack 6.9

I’m working with the markdown Gutenberg block provided by Jetpack. Most features work, however the one that I’m struggling with is definition lists, a part of Markdown Extra.

What I’m seeing is this:

concept
: definition

concept2
: another definition

is being turned into

<p>concept
: definition</p>
<p>concept2
: another definition</p>

It should be translated into html using <dl> tag.

It seems that a few of the features in Markdown Extra are not available in the Gutenberg block. Abbreviations and Footnotes also do not work for me. Tables do work so the Jetpack Markdown Gutenberg block implementation seems to be incomplete in some way if it is meant to have all elements of Markdown Extra as currently implied in the docs.

gallery images blurry

Images are plenty large when brought into the media, as soon as I put them in the gallery they get fuzzy. I cannot seem to solve this issue. I have tried deleting and reloading the media and the gallery and it still happens

Use of deprecated $product->ID

Hi there,

my error_log gets cluttered up with notices that the use of $product->ID is deprecated. That should be $product->get_id() now.
In
/wp-content/plugins/jetpack/modules/simple-payments/simple-payments.php
it occurs 6 times.
Could you please fix that in one of the next versions?

Count hits for media?

Jetpack is installed and running on all my sites. It counts traffic to pages and posts. Does it also count hits to media, such as how many times a PDF file was viewed or downloaded? If so, how do I see it? If not, is there any plugin which can do this?
